Forgot all about Vox, surprised it's still around.
I've gone to see my family (dad's side) because I had off work, a four day weekend. They all reside in St. Louis, so I hopped on a train departing from Chicago going 70 miles an hour, going to Kansas City with intermediate stops at all these places and St. Louis. How long does it take train A to reach destination R?
Two hours longer than it should!
Fucking delays.
So, now St. Louis.. woohoo.. yeah..
I've been playing around with this song Rebirth, there's two versions on Vox, I'm not sure how different they are. While doing a mixdown from a wav to mp3 in dual mono in Adobe Audition 2.0, I noticed that the mp3 sounded much better to me, however, some of the sound had repositioned mainly to the left speaker. I'm not entirely sure what would cause this. I mixed down another mp3 with straight stereo, the drums weren't panned partly to the left speaker like the first one, so I layered the two tracks, used Waves Audio Ultramaximizer+ on it, balanced the panning and rendered another mp3 of the resulting mix. It sounds much better to me, though, I'm not sure why.
This is a delayed entry.. the show was on.. whatever day that was. Ticket says November 3. Missed Edgey and Antigen Shift at Indoctrination for this.
I got to the show an hour early, found a line that wrapped around the block onto the next one, got a spot pretty much dead center of the area in front of the stage. Waited, and waited, people screamed if the lights did something different or someone did soundcheck. The floodlights were all on and pointed at my retinas. The show started off with a guy dressed in red robes wit ha white powered wig walked on the stage over to a DJ setup and started playing, no idea who he was, at one point he ripped off his robe and wig, had on a jersey beneath the robe and he put on a sock cap, people cheered, I have no idea why. The music he played was mediocre, there was about 15 seconds of awesome and then it was gone. He walked off stage, never having said a word.
She Wants Revenge came on, the drums were a lot more punk than I expected, really got the little tykes going. They played a few songs I'd never heard before, Black Liner Run and I Don't Want to Fall In Love, among others.
Wow, I just got hit with a huge wave of tiredness. Better to sleep now than at work, where I nearly nodded off today due to not sleeping (again) last night.
So yeah, SWR were decent, they ruined Tear You Apart. Placebo came on, there was a a mad rush of 13 year olds to the stage, and yeah. I'm going to bed, fuck this.
RULED. I was quite pleased. Had a good time and all that. CTMB was great live, the band members and roadies and friends and host were all awesome, I didn't know anyone there, but they made me feel comfortable, we had a good time. Got to see Digital Mindy again finally too. their set was fantastic, their setup has changed a bit since I last saw them, got a chance to talk with a couple members of DM after the show, reconfirming that they are awesome people.
Some other interesting things happened in the time I was there, but we'll leave those for later.
